2021 Super Bowl Preview: Mahomes-led Chiefs take on ‘Tompa’ Bay

We’ve finally made it! After 20 weeks of football the big game has finally come: the Super Bowl. Here is SNBDaily’s official Super Bowl Preview.

It has been a strange year to say the least. Teams had to persevere through a lot of set-backs this season. Many teams had COVID-19 cases that cut them short of players throughout the seasons. However, these two teams prevailed through it all. Kansas City led by the new and exciting Patrick Mahomes and Tampa Bay led by 43-year-old Tom Brady.

The Super Bowl will be on Sunday, February 7th, 2021. The game will start at 6:30 PM  EST and air on CBS.

SB LV is the first time a team hosting the Super Bowl will actually play in the big game.  The game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Things will be a lot different this year as only 22,00 people will be spectating, as opposed to last year’s 62,000 in attendance. Players have gotten used to not having fans throughout the year, but the atmosphere will be much different than players like Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are used to, having great experience with the Super Bowl.

Kansas City and Tampa Bay have had very similar postseason runs. The Chiefs and Buccaneers both averaged a score of 30 points a game on offense and have held opponents to an average of slightly above 20. The Bucs had a very rough schedule in the playoffs facing both the 1 and 2 seeds. Kansas City narrowly defeated Cleveland after Mahomes was ruled out of the game with a concussion. Kansas City went on to convincingly defeat Bills, 38-24, in a game where Mahomes threw for 325 yds and 3 touchdowns.

Tampa Bay comes in as 3-pt underdogs (via Caesars Sportsbook). Tampa Bay features a powerful offense led by Tom Brady and a young, exciting defense. Brady is making his 10th Super Bowl appearance, but this is the first time he will be facing off against an AFC team.

Kansas City is making their second straight appearance in the Super Bowl as they defeated San Francisco last year, 31-20. The two teams met during the season, Kansas City winning 24-27.

We should be in for a high-powered game. When these two teams met in the regular season, there were a combined 807 passing yards and only 162 rushing yards.

This game is going to have many different playmakers from all different ages. Devin White is someone that Kansas City is going to worry about. White has 35 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and an interception so far this postseason.

Tampa Bay will have to plan a way to slow down Tyreek Hill as he had 269 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.

All things aside this Super Bowl shouldn’t disappoint. The big game brings in an average of around 100 million people. Sure enough, there will be major differences this year considering the pandemic.

However, some things never change. In this case the best team from the AFC and the NFC will duke it out in the most watched American sporting event of the year.
